1️⃣ Project Scope Clarity: A solid service agreement sets out exactly what services and deliverables will be provided. So when they ask for additional file formats or additional functionality on their website without wanting to pay you more - you can refer them back to your agreement. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2️⃣ Definitive Payment Terms: Your agreement sets out how you’ll get paid and when, so everyone’s on the same page going into the project and bonus… you’ll know your rent/mortgage will be covered on time! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3️⃣ Defined IP Ownership: You’ve done the work, you’ve been paid, but who owns the intellectual property now? Your agreement will specify who will own what so you’ll know what belongs to you in no uncertain terms. Any content that has been created will be set out here, so you won’t be left in the lurch. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4️⃣ Limited Revisions: You can make it clear how many revisions are allowed and included in your rate as well as your project scope as a whole. 5️⃣ Efficient Feedback: You’ve sent the initial proof to your client 3 weeks ago and they’re still “thinking on it”. Your agreement can set out approval period terms and what happens if your client doesn’t adhere to these terms.
